Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd. resumed daily helicopter services (post monsoon) to the Kedarnath Shrine. It is deploying a five- seater Bell 407 helicopter from two places in Uttarakhand – Augustmuni and Phata. The services will be available tentatively up to 22nd of october month.
Augustmuni is located 17 kms. beyond Rudraprayag en-route to Kedarnath. Rudraprayag is around 140 kms. from Rishikesh and is linked by good motor able roads. The service originates from the helipad located at a playground in Augustmuni. The flying time is around 45 minutes for a round trip (Augustmuni – Kedarnath – Augustmuni).
Phata, is around 50 kms. from Augustmuni enroute to Kedarnath and 18 kms. short of Gaurikund. The distance from Gaurikund to Kedarnath is 14 kms. By providing the facility of helicopter services from Phata, the flying time has been reduced to 20 minutes for a round trip (Phata – Kedarnath – Phata).

I was in kedarnath on 21-May-2010 this year, before reaching there, I visited Pawan hans office in Phata, As per information available Pawan hans was claiming that we can get the Halicopter ticket on first come first basis. But after waiting at 2 hrs in Phata office , Pawan hans crew staff was saying that no tickets are available next 4 days. It is ridiculous. If they were informed us well in advance, i can buy it from their office. but all the the mess at Phata site and no one responding us about our query. In the web site these ppl publised only 4-5 flights, but i have seen atleast 20 flights to-fro in Kedarnath. This is pathetic services which i have even seen.
I wouldn’t suggest my friends to ever trust on Pawan hans services. Where they have no services ethics.
